Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision in Salem County Claims One Life
A tragic road accident in Salem County, New Jersey, on Sunday afternoon resulted in the death of a young driver and left several others injured, according to state authorities.
The incident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. on Route 647, also known as Telegraph Road, in Quinton Township. Officials reported that a 28-year-old woman from Quinton Township was driving northbound when her vehicle unexpectedly crossed over the center line, leading to a chain-reaction crash involving two other vehicles.
According to preliminary findings shared by state police, the driver’s vehicle first struck the side of a southbound car. Moments later, it collided with a sport utility vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. The impact of the collisions caused severe damage and led to emergency responders being dispatched to the scene.
The driver who crossed the center line suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead as a result of the crash. Authorities have identified her as a resident of Quinton Township. Her front-seat passenger survived but sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the individuals traveling in the SUV involved in the crash were also taken to a local hospital. Their injuries were reported as minor, and they are expected to recover.
Emergency crews worked at the scene to assist the injured and manage traffic disruptions caused by the accident. The roadway was affected for a period as officials conducted their initial response and began documenting the crash site.
