Eagles Offensive Coordinator Kevin Patullo Faces Uncertain Future After Playoff Exit

Philadelphia—After the Eagles’ early playoff loss, offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo is under pressure. The team’s 23-19 wild-card loss to the 49ers at Lincoln Financial Field questioned Patullo’s offensive leadership.

Sunday, the Eagles’ offense showed promise but stalled. First half was good, but second half was poor with no touchdowns in last two quarters. They scored 119 yards in the second half after three punts and two field goals. The Eagles’ postseason journey ended when quarterback Jalen Hurts’ fourth-and-11 pass to tight end Dallas Goedert failed.

After the loss, players shielded Patullo from locker room criticism, taking responsibility for missed opportunities and execution errors all season. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith highlighted player-coach support to fix the team’s problems. Left guard Landon Dickerson applauded Patullo’s dedication and improvement despite first-time coordinator challenges.

Coach Nick Sirianni trusts Patullo after working with the Colts in 2018. Despite his knowledge and commitment, Patullo’s offensive approaches failed in the results-driven professional sports world.

In 2025, the Eagles’ offensive was inconsistent, placing 24th overall, 23rd passing, 18th rushing, and 19th scoring. An ineffective offensive line, inconsistent wide receiver A.J. Brown, and unstable quarterback play hurt the team. The challenges were complex, but Patullo was condemned for failing to fix them.

Multiple players acknowledged the team’s approach shortcomings. Right tackle Fred Johnson labeled the offense “conservative” and claimed opponents rarely liked changes. Left tackle Jordan Mailata said Patullo’s future is unknown but experience may help.

For the first time this season, Patullo, 44, called plays, demonstrating his expertise but also showing opportunities for improvement. Analysts think Patullo may be a fine offensive coordinator, but the Eagles may pick someone more experienced.

The squad reviews its coaches to uncover talent-maximizing leaders. The Eagles boasted a top-tier offense, but execution and limited adjustments have prompted calls for offensive leadership reevaluation. The organization must decide if Patullo can recover or move on.
