Clark Welcomes New Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Training Center Focused on Community and Discipline

An organized Brazilian jiu-jitsu training center debuted in Clark, New Jersey, bringing martial arts and community to the township. Kombat Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu opened at 152 Central Ave. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, snacks, and children’s classes.

Owner and instructor Helio Desa said the academy’s inauguration fulfilled a long-held dream. He had always wanted to create an institution, but it took courage and forethought. He proceeded after finding the correct spot. Desa says the Clark community has been kind and supportive from the start.

Early martial arts training began for Desa. His first jiu-jitsu training was with Team Clube de Jiu-Jitsu Pitbull aged nine. He improved his technical talents and competition record over time, showing his passion to the sport. Multiple Pan-American Championship championships, an IBJJF championship, and a World Jiu-Jitsu Championship bronze medal are among his accomplishments.

With this background, Desa says the program is more than athletics. He stresses that the program is based on Brazilian jiu-jitsu love, not money. Regular training and perseverance are required for students to advance. He says advancement is based on work and progress, not cash.

All skill levels are welcome in the academy. Classes are designed for self-defense, competition, or fitness and recreation. Adults and children can enroll, and the launch event includes youth-focused programs to introduce the discipline in a friendly environment.

Desa says the academy wants to make learning, growing, and building confidence comfortable. He believes martial arts may improve discipline, focus, and self-development beyond physical strength. He intends to give Clark locals more than a training ground by making the academy community-centered.

Kombat Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu joins the township’s small companies. The new academy offers structured Brazilian jiu-jitsu training taught by an experienced competitor and coach for Clark residents who value discipline, devotion, and camaraderie.

Desa says his focus is on quality instruction and a welcoming environment for all students as the academy begins its first months.
