‘The Goonies’ Marks 40 Years: Beloved Cast Returns to New Jersey as Sequel Moves Forward

A sequel revives “The Goonies”‘ popularity. The film was confirmed by Warner Bros. after years of rumors. Potsy Ponciroli is writer/director. Venice liked the first story, Ponciroli said. Second project begins.
Ponciroli enjoyed the first film and said the second continues the 40-year-old plot. “It’s a movie I want to see as one of its biggest fans,” notes. Instead of death, “The Goonies” needed a fresh plot.
Chris Columbus and Steven Spielberg will produce, adding intrigue. Filmmaker Spielberg altered Columbus’ story. The film’s director and producer, Richard Donner, died in 2021 but remains famous.
Stef, Mikey, Brand, and Chunk were played by Martha Plimpton, Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, and prominent lawyer Jeff Cohen Feldman performs ancient songs. In December, he will attend another 40th anniversary ceremony in Red Bank, NJ. Wil Wheaton and Jerry O’Connell of “Stand By Me” will celebrate.
Some still like “The Goonies” 40 years later. All ages enjoy the film’s lessons about friendship, bravery, and endurance. They say “Goonies never say die.” Newark fans welcome the long-awaited sequel.
