Vice President JD Vance Faces Criticism Over Minneapolis ICE Shooting Remarks

Vice President JD Vance is under fire for his statements regarding a Minneapolis ICE raid that killed a woman. According to DHS, 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good was killed by ICE agents in the south of the city during targeted enforcement.

Protests and skirmishes between federal law officers and demonstrators followed the fatal incident. Social media video of the incident spread, prompting federal and local officials to dispute the events.

Former President Trump said the woman “violently, willfully, and viciously ran over” an ICE officer using her car. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem justified the officer’s actions as self-defense against “an act of domestic terrorism.”

Governor Tim Walz labeled these claims false propaganda, while Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey branded them “garbage” and firmly opposed the incident’s depiction.

Backlash has followed JD Vance’s public comments. He wrote on X that the woman’s death was “a tragedy of her own making” and that people should not interfere with federal law enforcement. He also challenged Democrats, especially presidential candidates, to answer whether the officer defended himself wrongly.

Political analysts and media slammed these posts. Johnson called Vance “an empty man,” and Favreau questioned the vice president’s judgment. Vance’s comments were unacceptable given the woman’s death and family, according to journalist Zaid Jilani. Former British MP George Galloway said Vance’s comments might hurt his political career.

Her relatives said Renee Nicole Good was a wonderful mother and kind person who left a lasting impression. Her mother told the Minnesota Star Tribune that Good was “one of the kindest people I’ve ever known,” who had spent her life helping others and was a dedicated citizen.

Video shows ICE agents approaching a partially blocked vehicle. The SUV pivoted and drove forward as one agent tried to unlock the driver’s side door, leading a police near the front tires to fire multiple shots. The shooting’s cause is unknown, and the FBI is investigating.

The Minneapolis ICE shooting and political reactions have highlighted questions about federal enforcement, public safety, and elected leaders’ comments on ongoing investigations.
