Trump Keeps Promoting ‘Record-High’ Approval — But New Polls Paint a Very Different Picture

President Trump has claimed “record highs” in approval ratings in recent days. Polls show his presidency is more unpopular than ever.

On Wednesday, Trump informed supporters his poll ratings were at an all-time high. A day earlier, an Economist/YouGov poll showed the president’s job approval at an all-time low for this term. The study indicated that 38% of Americans strongly or somewhat approve of his job and 57% do not. His -19 net approval rating is his lowest since returning to the White House.

Women and seniors were hit hardest by the cut. Their frustration with the government’s economy and rising costs grows. Trump’s approval ratings increased again after falling in November 2017 during his first term. Uncertain if that will happen again.

Last Monday, Fox News released another large study showing Trump’s second-term approval rating at an all-time low. Polls suggest 41% of Americans support his presidency and 58% oppose it. His lowest rating since late 2017. Trump supporters did poorly in the poll.

In the Fox News survey, economic concerns prevail. The U.S. economy was unpopular with 76% of voters, up from 67% in July. Many Americans pay more for gas, housing, health care, and electricity than last year. Price increases enrage Trump supporters. Republicans, Democrats, and independents agree living costs are up. Only fuel breaks the agreement.

Another Reuters/Ipsos poll confirmed it last week. The study found 38% approval of Trump, like the Economist/YouGov. Republican support fell from 87% in November to 82% as economic concerns mounted.

The November 21–24 Economist/YouGov poll comprised 1,677 Americans. Even though numbers change frequently, these three big national polls demonstrate a pattern: Despite his claims, Trump’s approval is plummeting.

As the political situation intensifies in the new year, these polls show people are split and hard to predict. Although he professes to be more popular than ever, research shows the president is unhappy.
