Trump Announces Breakthrough Peace Agreement Between Israel and Hamas

Former President Donald Trump said Israel and Hamas agreed on the first Gaza endgame. The U.S.-mediated ceasefire frees hostages and withdraws Israeli troops from Gaza.
Trump expected Israel to retreat and rescue detainees. Declared “strong, durable, and everlasting peace.” The statement is the most promising indicator of progress after two years of conflict that killed tens of thousands and destroyed Gaza.
Netanyahu remained cautiously optimistic about captives’ release. Hamas evacuated Israeli forces and let supplies into Gaza after the conflict. An NGO urged the Trump administration and mediators to rapidly ensure Israel meets all demands.
Negotiations sources said Hamas will release 20 inmates this weekend and Israel will leave most of Gaza. After nearly two years, Middle East instability may end.
White House envoy Steve Witkoff, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and Netanyahu’s senior adviser Ron Dermer expected Trump’s team to restore regional peace and confidence after days of heated negotiations To judge peace, former presidents advocated visiting the Middle East.
Sharm el-Sheikh post-crisis meetings may have benefited most. American mediators appear to have struck a truce and overcome major obstacles.
One of history’s deadliest calamities, Gaza’s October 7, 2023 Hamas raid on Israel killed 1,200 and abducted nearly 250. Israel condemns genocide and global condemnation after its retaliatory attack killed tens of thousands and displaced hundreds of thousands.
The third big truce since the war is planned. Hostage exchanges ended November 2023 and early 2024 truces. International involvement and Trump administration direct talks give this deal cautious hope.
Improvement doesn’t erase doubt. Peace requires long-term political solutions, Gaza infrastructure development, and Israeli-Palestinian reconciliation, say humanitarian organizations. In coastal camps, Gazan families pray for peace.
The agreement’s implementation is followed globally. The extraordinary moment of harmony in one of the world’s most controversial locales may mark Trump’s worldwide ambitions.
