Tragic Thanksgiving Blaze in Orange, N.J. Claims Third Life After Heroic Rescue

New Jersey officials reported Tuesday that a third person died in a Thanksgiving night fire in Orange. Days after his children saved him from the fire, Frantz Fleury, 78, died at University Hospital. Inhaled smoke.
Around 5 p.m. on November 28, the Fleury family’s 600-block Mosswood Avenue house burned. Frantz’s daughters, 49-year-old Frantzia Fleury and 42-year-old Poujanee Fleury, died in the fire despite everyone’s attempts.
Authorities think handicapped Frantz escaped with six others because his children were brave. No new information from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office’s fire investigation.
Frantzia was a strong, caring Marine and hospital x-ray technician. Fleury cherished family. Brown Eyes magazine memorialized Poujanee Fleury (PJ). Both sisters were close and had unparented kids.
After this sad event, the village supported the family. On Saturday, neighbors, friends, and coworkers will commemorate the Fleurys.
The Orange fire department and municipal authorities have been discussing safety during the holidays since cooking, candles, and decorations can ignite fires. Please check smoke detectors, clear escape routes, use heat sources correctly, and cook meals.
This tragedy illustrates how serious house fires are and how families and first responders must save lives. Officials will thoroughly investigate the fire.
