Tragic Incident on Tacony-Palmyra Bridge Claims Life of Cherry Hill Driver

A 20-year-old Cherry Hill driver was killed in an early Sunday morning Tacony-Palmyra Bridge crash on September 28, 2025. Driving east from Philadelphia, Ethan Knorr hit a deteriorating bridge. Boats may descend as the bridge lowered.

The Burlington County Bridge Commission Police said Knorr’s car drove around lowered traffic gates with bright lights and loud alarms. They also alleged Knorr’s car went around a designated police car. Knorr died in a 3:20 a.m. crash. The crash involved no other cars or pedestrians.

A tied-arch and double-leaf bascule span the Delaware River on the steel Tacony-Palmyra Bridge. This crucial link links Palmyra, New Jersey, and Tacony, Philadelphia. It links New Jersey and Pennsylvania Route 73, crucial for passengers and freight. The Burlington County Bridge Commission maintains and occasionally allows boats to cross.

After the accident, both bridge sides were closed for investigation and repair. After checking for damage, officials let cars back on the bridge. Burlington County Bridge Commission Police are investigating the accident’s cause.

We must pay heed to traffic signs and other barriers, especially drawbridges, after this catastrophe. To avoid this from happening again, the government asks drivers to be extra cautious and follow all printed cautions.
