Tragic Death of 13-Year-Old in Ewing Following Police Chase Involving Stolen Vehicle

Police pursuits in Ewing, New Jersey, triggered car accidents that killed a 13-year-old girl last month. Girl hit by 15-year-old’s stolen car.
The Mercer County Prosecutor charged the driver with auto death, aggravated manslaughter, and traffic violations. The driver and 15-year-old passenger were arrested on scene, police said. They live in Trenton.
Parkway Avenue and Prospect Street hosted the event on December 19. At 6:45 p.m., police tried to stop the stolen car on Prospect Street north. The driver sped away from police without listening. Ran a Parkway red light. Theft car hits car with two adults and two toddlers.
The 13-year-old died in a local hospital after being seriously hurt. To protect her privacy, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office hasn’t identified her.
First, the juvenile driver was charged with auto assault, several aggravated assaults, motor vehicle theft, avoiding police, and traffic offenses. After further investigation, the prosecution added aggravated manslaughter, death by auto, and a traffic infringement for the child’s unlicensed driving death. Car theft suspect is a teen.
