Tragedy at Jersey Shore: Swimmer Dies After Getting Stuck in Dangerous Current

Tragedy at Jersey Shore: Swimmer Dies After Getting Stuck in Dangerous Current
A really sad thing happened at Seaside Heights beach last night. A man died after getting caught in a strong rip current while swimming.
Here’s what happened:
- It was around 7 PM when people called for help. They saw swimmers in trouble in the water.
- Rescue teams rushed to Webster Avenue beach (which had no lifeguards at that time).
- They found seven people struggling in the water. One man was half underwater when they pulled him out with a jet ski.
- People tried to save him with CPR, but in vain. He was taken to the hospital, where doctors said he had passed away. It was very critical sitution.
Other swimmers got hurt too:
- Three more people had to go to the hospital because they swallowed too much water, but fortunately they’re ok now.
Why did this happen?
- The beach had no lifeguards (they usually leave by 5 PM).
- It was a “red flag day”, meaning the ocean was very dangerous. People were only supposed to go in up to their knees, but some went deeper.
This isn’t the first time:
Over the weekend, rescue teams saved 12 people from unguarded beaches in Ocean County. The water is stronger than it looks, and rip currents can pull even good swimmers under.
Be careful at the beach!
- Always swim where lifeguards are watching.
- If you see red flags, stay close to shore.
- If you get stuck in a current, don’t fight it—swim sideways to escape.
A scary reminder that the ocean can be beautiful but dangerous. Stay safe out there!
