Fans were not disappointed by “The Devil Wears Prada” sequel’s beauty and star power. The production is crossing the Hudson to New Jersey after weeks of turning NYC streets into runways, bringing Hollywood fever to Newark.

As Andy Sachs and Miranda Priestly, Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep have been filming in Manhattan for nearly two months. Scenes will be shot at Newark’s crowded airport. New local casting calls sought performers of all ages for first-class and economy cabin passengers. Since those parts were filled, the film’s presence in New Jersey has sparked excitement and local involvement.

In the 2006 hit, Millburn native Anne Hathaway repeated her breakout role as Andy Sachs, the ambitious assistant-turned-fashion insider. Hathaway continued filming after falling on set with a broken heel. Beautiful photos of Hathaway’s clothing dominate social media, fueling project enthusiasm.

New Jersey native Meryl Streep reprises Miranda Priestly, the smart and powerful editor-in-chief who made the original film a cultural phenomenon. Bernardsville and Basking Ridge native Streep was nominated for an Oscar for the role nearly two decades ago. Fashion and dominating performances are expected from her comeback.

The sequel reunites more than actors. Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt reprise their beloved roles as Nigel and Emily, the film’s fashion-world comic and drama figures. Newcomers include Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, Pauline Chalamet, Simone Ashley, Caleb Hearon, Broadway favorite Conrad Ricamora, and Helen J. Shen. This sequel stars Miranda Priestly’s husband Kenneth Branagh and adds mystery.

Creativeness remains behind the lens. The script will be rewritten by Lauren Weisberger’s popular novel adaptor Aline Brosh McKenna. Former director David Frankel promises the same comedy, elegance, and sincere narrative that made the previous picture a global sensation. With a May 1, 2026 release date, fans are excited to see how the sequel follows these fantastic characters.

The production has become a roving fashion show since filming began this summer. Hathaway has worn character-driven clothing, while Streep has revived Miranda Priestly’s grace. Their outfits alone show the film’s influence on mainstream culture and style.

The production’s New Jersey role works. Bringing production to Newark is more than a technical decision—Hathaway and Streep are New Jersey natives. Local fans like seeing movie sets in their city, and the film becomes closer to its female stars.

Due to its star-studded cast, returning creative team, and growing list of filming locales, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” is one of the decade’s most anticipated films. As Newark prepares for its film premiere, one thing is certain: this sequel is about legacy, resilience, and epic storytelling that makes everyone want to join in.
