Saturday night, a 17-year-old Mays Landing teen knifed his mother to death. South Jersey, shocked. Several horrific offenses placed the teen in jail.
Someone reported a Meadowbrook Condos child with a knife to the Atlantic County Prosecutor at 6:05 p.m. Julissa Serrano, 49, was critically injured when police arrived at the home. Despite firefighters transferring her to AtlantiCare, she died.
The cops haven’t said what started the attack or how the teen became the suspect. His name is unclear because he’s under 18. His allegations included homicide, illegal firearms usage, and possession without a permit.
After being caught immediately, the teen was sent to Harborfields Atlantic Youth Center until his first court date. An autopsy should indicate how Serrano died as investigators examine this terrible incident.
Meadowbrook Condo neighbors couldn’t comprehend what happened and said it made no sense. Local chiefs said the inquiry is proceeding and the public would be notified soon.
Many New Jerseyans worry about teens’ mental health, familial violence, and stress after another teen violence incident. The government recommends family and friend abuse victims immediately contact local services and crisis hotlines.
The police are gathering evidence and questioning suspects for the Atlantic County Prosecutor.
