Republicans Accuse Democrats of Radical Agenda as 2026 Elections Loom

Republicans Slam Democrats Over Alleged Anti-Trump Agenda, Call Plan “More Woke, Less Rational”

Republicans and Democrats are once again at odds with each other in politics. The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has harshly criticized House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries over a rumored legislative plan. Republicans say that Democrats are more interested in radical social policies than in solving the problems that ordinary Americans face.

People don’t like what Jeffries said earlier this year when he said that House Democrats would release a “blueprint for a better America” in 100 days. Jeffries said at the time that the plan would not be about Donald Trump but about making people’s lives better by raising wages, lowering costs, and making sure everyone has a better quality of life.

However, months later, Republicans claim that no such finalized plan has been presented. In a memo released this week, nicknamed “Project 2026” in a nod to the right’s “Project 2025” policy outline, the NRCC accuses Jeffries and other Democratic leaders of failing to deliver on their promise. The committee also alleges that Democrats are preparing to push policies that Republicans argue are unpopular with the public.

According to the NRCC, these rumored Democratic proposals include expanding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training; mandating preferred pronoun use in schools and workplaces, and imposing restrictions on certain advertisements — even those featuring celebrities like Sydney Sweeney or Shane Gillis. The memo also says that Democrats want to get rid of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for good, give undocumented immigrants perks like healthcare and housing paid for by taxpayers, and stop building the border wall altogether while taking down parts that are already there.

Republicans also say that Democrats want to put a “Carbon Lifestyle Tax” on Americans who own SUVs, trucks, or outdoor grills. This would, according to Republicans, be unfair to working-class families. Another point of criticism is a proposed pilot program for government-run grocery stores in underserved neighborhoods — an idea inspired by initiatives floated by progressive city leaders, including New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.

In their messages, Republicans said that the Democratic plan was like the policies that were in place under President Joe Biden. They focused on what they called “open borders, high crime, and wasteful spending.”

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) quickly reacted to the NRCC’s claims that they were just political theater. A DCCC spokesperson said Republicans are trying to take attention away from what they see as the GOP’s failure to pass laws and address middle-class issues. The spokesperson also said that House Republicans put big funders ahead of hardworking families.

This new argument makes things even more tense in politics, where both parties are getting ready for the next election season. As the midterm elections of 2026 get closer, disagreements over policy direction and how each party talks about the other are likely to get worse. This will make political rhetoric a major battleground in the coming months.
