Newsmax Anchor Questions Pam Bondi’s Political Future After Heated House Hearing on Epstein Records

After her contentious House Judiciary Committee appearance last week, Newsmax presenter Carl Higbie chastised Attorney General Pam Bondi on TV.

Bondi faced hard questioning from legislators about the federal government’s handling and publication of Jeffrey Epstein’s records on Wednesday. Bondi yelled at times as members questioned her about the many redactions in papers related to the long-running probe.

Bondi repeatedly defended her agency and Trump during the session. She once said that lawmakers should focus on economic success rather than Epstein. She noted that the Dow Jones Industrial Average had topped 50,000 and the S&P 500 and Nasdaq were nearing new highs. She said that the market’s advances were helping Americans’ retirement funds and 401(k)s.

Bondi’s words switched the emphasis to economic statistics rather than Epstein inquiry questions. The issue has garnered years of public interest, but critics contend that economic performance does not replace transparency or responsibility.

A wealthy banker charged with federal sex trafficking, Epstein, died in federal jail in 2019. His suicide raised questions about how the investigation was handled and whether strong people close to him were thoroughly examined. Higbie also chastised the Obama and Biden administrations for not doing enough to arrest or identify Epstein’s criminal network. As head of the Department of Justice, Bondi must assure accountability and justice for survivors, he said.

Higbie said the Justice Department must act decisively on one of the biggest political scandals in history. He demanded judicial action against anyone who botched the probe and that authorities responsible for major errors be fired.
