New Jersey MVC Mobile Unit to Bring Real ID Services to Freehold Township in January

A mobile unit from the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission will be in Freehold Township next month to help drivers upgrade to a Real ID. The temporary service allows locals to complete the Real ID procedure without visiting a full-service MVC office, relieving strain on crowded locations and saving applicants time.

The MVC mobile unit will operate in Michael J. Tighe Park in Freehold Township for several days in mid-January. Officials verified that the device will be located inside the Recreation Activity Center on Georgia Road for regulated indoor use. This visit supports the state’s Real ID expansion efforts ahead of federal enforcement deadlines.

All mobile unit services require appointments. Online scheduling through the MVC appointment system begins Monday morning. Due to strong demand, New Jersey Real ID appointments fill quickly, so residents should book early. Only scheduled appointments will be served.

The Real ID Act requires driver’s licenses and ID cards to fulfill higher security standards. The bill strengthened identification requirements worldwide and is now a fundamental feature of domestic air travel laws. Adults 18 and older must provide a Real ID-compliant license or a passport to board domestic US flights.
