New Jersey Convenience Store Sells $3 Million Mega Millions Ticket as Jackpot Climbs Higher

Following the most recent Mega Millions drawing, a fortunate lottery player in New Jersey is in possession of a ticket valued at $3 million, adding to the mounting excitement surrounding the national game.
The winning ticket was bought at a QuickChek convenience shop on Gateway Boulevard in Monroe, Middlesex County, according to official state lottery authorities. The ticket missed the Mega Ball, which is necessary to win the jackpot, but it did match five of the winning numbers chosen on Tuesday.
The Mega Ball number was 10, and the numbers selected for the game were 4, 13, 52, 53, and 69. The draw’s Megaplier was set to 3X. A second-tier win, which in this instance yielded a $3 million jackpot, is achieved by matching the five primary numbers without the Mega Ball.
The jackpot was not won since no ticket in Tuesday’s drawing matched all six numbers. Consequently, the top reward for the upcoming drawing, which is set for this Friday, has been raised to $70 million. A lump-sum cash payout of an estimated $31.5 million is another option available to players.
There were other noteworthy prizes from the drawing besides the New Jersey victory. In California, a second-prize ticket for $3,665,298 was sold. In contrast to the majority of states, California determines lottery payouts based on ticket sales and the number of winners.
With tickets available in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Mega Millions is still one of the most popular lottery games in the country. Even with the excitement, the odds are still very difficult. The overall odds of winning any reward are 1 in 23, but players have a 1 in 290,472,336 chance of winning the jackpot.
The odds are also high, calculated at 1 in 12,629,232 for second-prize winners like the one in New Jersey. Stories like this, however, demonstrate how even non-jackpot prizes may yield sums of money that can change people’s lives.
It is still unknown whether the reward has been claimed, and the identity of the New Jersey ticket holder has not been made public. For the time being, the winning ticket acts as a reminder of the continued allure of lottery games and the potential to transform a modest purchase into a multimillion-dollar prize.
