N.J. Cop Accused in Violent Break-In at Ex-Boyfriend’s Home Pleads Guilty, Agrees to Give Up Badge

This year, the Toms River officer who broke into her ex-boyfriend’s house confessed. She’s fired and jailed.

Following months of court hearings after an April fight, Becky Sayegh, 32, admitted to burglary, criminal mischief, and simple assault. Sayegh and her ex-partner arrived at her Bayville home at 11:20 p.m. on April 25 without working, police said.

Sayegh broke the front door glass with a baton and went to the living room to find her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend. Sayegh may have pushed them both in anger. Sayegh’s nail enlarged the housewife’s eye.

Government says things are worsening. After going upstairs, Sayegh broke more things and tore pictures off the wall. Throwing a plant back into the living room. As things worsened, her ex-boyfriend and his girlfriend called 911 from the backyard.

According to prosecutors, Sayegh scratched one of the victims’ cars before police arrived. Police say she fought them upon arrival. She allegedly threatened to burn the house while being taken.

For $2,500, cars and homes were damaged.

Sayegh was released from county jail after arrest due to NJ bail law changes. Police say she will lose her Toms River Police Department job and never work for the state if she pleads guilty. They must compensate victims, stay away for three months, and serve jail time.

In civil court last year, Sayegh sued Toms River for sexual harassment, equal pay, and unfair police. Court records show the case continues.

His criminal case prevented him from working as a police officer or lawyer. A formal sentence should follow her plea deal.
