Murdered in Her Own Home: Beloved Morris County Vet Honored by Heartbroken Community

In a peaceful Franklin Township house, a famous Morris County veterinarian and her partner died, shocking and heartbreaking New Jersey. Lauren Semanchik, 33 years old, and Tyler Webb, 29 years old, both firefighters, were discovered shot to death on Saturday, August 2. This horrific event brought an end to a rather peaceful weekend. After hearing the terrible news, family members, colleagues, coworkers, and customers are all asking how a couple with such a passionate relationship could have been duped.

Investigators found both victims with gunshot wounds at Dr. Semanchik’s Upper Kingtown Road home in a targeted attack. New Jersey State Police Sergeant Ricardo Jorge Santos, who had previously been Lauren’s boyfriend, was revealed to be the primary suspect by the investigators, which shocked the entire community.

Santos was found dead in a park in Piscataway, Pennsylvania, from a gunshot wound that he had self-inflicted. This discovery left the neighborhood in a state of heartbreak and left many things unresolved. Undoubtedly, he committed suicide.

Besides being a vet, Dr. Semanchik was kind, loving, and kind. She helped many Morris County and beyond families with end-of-life animal care. Her colleagues and clients at Long Valley Animal Hospital have mourned her as a “light in the darkest times.” She loved music, gardening, and interior design, making her loss all the more personal.

In Forked River, her partner Tyler Webb was a loyal Pinewald Pioneer Fire Company member. He led various firefighting teams for 11 years and was highly regarded.The community that works in emergency services has been broken by his passing.

After the tragic event, Lauren’s coworkers established a GoFundMe campaign in order to provide financial assistance to her family and perpetuate her legacy. Through the use of heartfelt comments and recollections of a woman who “loved deeply and was deeply loved,” the campaign was able to gather tens of thousands of dollars in a matter of simple days.
The investigation continues despite the suspect’s suicide. Officials want anyone with information to assist solve this terrible case.

This tragedy took two young lives and shattered two communities—one of healing and the other of service. What’s left are memories, tributes, and deep sadness.
