Mike Pence Urges RFK Jr. to Step Down Over Pro-Life Concerns

Mike Pence demanded Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s resignation over his pro-life views. Conservative and anti-abortion activist Pence believes Kennedy disregarded his confirmation pledges regarding abortion-related pharmaceutical assessments.

Pence’s ally the Advancing American Freedom Foundation wrote a memo condemning Kennedy. The letter stated that Kennedy “followed in the footsteps of the Obama and Biden administrations by stalling pro-life efforts.” Kennedy was labeled a “progressive wolf in pro-life sheep’s clothing” for his unique approach.

The administration’s delay in examining mifepristone, a common abortion and miscarriage drug, frustrates Pence. Kennedy reportedly promised to evaluate the medication’s safety and clearance at his confirmation hearing. Pence claims this commitment has not been kept, worrying pro-lifers.

Pence said Kennedy should resign so the government may choose a pro-life HHS Secretary. American politicians should prioritize protecting vulnerable women and children before expanding abortion access, he added.

The document also cited Kennedy’s FDA’s generic abortion drug approval. Critics said this broke his promises and bolstered Pence’s call for his resignation. The letter stated Kennedy has not met Republican Party goals and recommends a leadership replacement.

Another divide between Pence and Trump’s administration. Pence has already challenged Trump’s tariffs and other economic initiatives, demonstrating he challenges governance as well as social policies.

Mifepristone and abortion access remain political issues in America. Pence and his supporters perceive Kennedy’s actions as a pro-life betrayal, but others contend that mifepristone’s review and approval procedure requires thorough scientific assessment and delays to guarantee safety and compliance with federal standards.

This topic reveals Republican leadership and social policy divide. The call for RFK Jr.’s resignation shows how political appointees are pressured and how serious the US abortion and healthcare debate is.
