Midweek Weather Alert: Rain, Gusty Winds Expected Across New Jersey

New Jersey residents should expect rain and heavier gusts Wednesday from a low-pressure system off the coast. Tuesday evening and Wednesday will change after a dry and sunny start.
Monday will be largely clear and pleasant. Some areas may enjoy low 80s highs and little winds. Shorelines and river valleys may get morning fog. The quiet before the storm will end.
Tuesday’s clouds will rise and isolated showers may occur late afternoon and evening. Rain will start on the coast and then move inland. Winds will surge. 30 mph gusts over coastal and open areas can cause debris, surf, and small boat accidents.
Weather will peak Wednesday. Rain is expected over the state, with more along the coast and low pressure system. Up to 30 mph winds will persist, especially around exposed coasts. Though mild, inland winds are dangerous. Some areas may suffer brief heavy rain and poor visibility during rush hour.
Wind and rain lower temperatures. Clouds and wind can decrease daytime highs to the mid-70s and evening lows. Surface dampness, high winds, poor drainage, and saturated soil can cause temporary ponding.
Residents should handle midweek weather carefully. Secure loose outdoor items, limit storm-related travel, and follow weather advisories. Winds can cause beach erosion, high tides, and waves, but not coastal flooding.
Weather should improve Thursday as the system moves out. As skies clear late and breezes moderate, temperatures should rise gently. The modification should improve stability by week’s end.
Follow storm track and intensity updates from forecast models. Small modifications may affect wind and rain.
