Long Wait in Line Leads to Stabbing at New Jersey Marshalls, Authorities Say

Police say someone stabbed someone in a Kearny, New Jersey, Marshalls store after getting furious about the cashier line. Someone is accused of buying knives from the same company and cutting another client.

The Saturday brawl occurred at 6:15 p.m. in the Passaic Avenue Marshalls. The sluggish checkout line upset 25-year-old Newark resident Amber I. Thompson, according to management. Thompson and another checkout customer argued immediately. Investigations are underway into their fight.

Thompson allegedly took one kitchen knife from the bundle and followed the woman, her family, and their automobile out of the store. She possibly stabbed his torso repeatedly.

An injured woman with blood on her clothes was found by police. She was transferred to a local hospital immediately. Later, authorities claimed her injuries were significant but not life-threatening.

Police found Thompson hiding in a store toilet. A restroom baby changing table had a bloody knife. Then she was arrested.

Thompson faces second-degree aggravated assault, weapons, and endangerment charges. She’s in Hudson County jail awaiting court.
