Jackson Supermarket Sells $50,000 Powerball Winning Ticket as Jackpot Climbs to $238 Million

A $50,000 Powerball ticket sold at a ShopRite supermarket in Ocean County gave a New Jersey player a big prize on Wednesday night. The New Jersey Lottery said the ticket was bought at ShopRite on North County Line Road in Jackson.

Winning ticket matched four of five white ball numbers and Powerball. A $50,000 third-tier Powerball prize is awarded for matching four numbers and the Powerball. Winning this reward is unusual yet significant for the lucky ticket holder, with odds of 1 in 913,129.

Drawn Wednesday were 50, 52, 54, 56, and 64. Powerball was 23 and Power Play was 2x. No ticket nationwide matched all six numbers to win the jackpot, but the Jackson sale was one of the state’s highest-value wins.

No one nationwide won the estimated $217 million jackpot, therefore the top reward has rolled over. This Saturday’s jackpot is set at $238 million, with a $110.9 million cash option. Rollovers increase ticket sales as players respond to the larger prize pool.

No $1 million second-prize tickets were sold in this drawing. The second prize requires matching all five white ball numbers without the Powerball. Matching five numbers without Powerball is 1 in 11,688,053.

Each Powerball play costs $2. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday night, drawings are held. The game is played in 45 states, DC, Puerto Rico, and the USVI. Every drawing has many reward tiers, from small cash to multimillion-dollar jackpots.

The New Jersey Lottery, the state lottery body, verifies and publishes winning numbers and reward details for New Jersey players. Players should examine and sign the back of winning tickets to prove ownership before collecting a prize.

Millions of players across will try their luck at Saturday’s drawing to win the growing jackpot. Meanwhile, one Ocean County ticket holder won $50,000 this week.
