Hunterdon County Launches Echo Hill Dam Restoration with New Bridge and Accessible Dock

Hunterdon County has started restoring Echo Hill Park in Clinton Township to improve safety and leisure. County officials expect the Echo Hill Dam Restoration Project to finish in February 2026 after starting this month.

The dam will be restored and upgraded to improve public access and environmental health. A new pedestrian bridge and ADA-compliant pier are under construction. The dock will allow people of all abilities to fish and kayak or canoe, while the bridge will add beauty to the park.

The accessible dock will promote paddling safety initiatives and expand outdoor education opportunities through the Hunterdon County Division of Parks and Recreation, county administrators said. This addition makes Echo Hill Park more accessible to all ages and abilities.

Besides recreation, the initiative improves the environment. Installing a new power panel for construction will power pond aeration later. After construction, air diffusers will be inserted in the water to improve water quality and local ecosystems.

Echo Hill Park’s future is invested in by the restoration, which balances public use and environmental responsibility. Hunterdon County officials hope the 2026 project will provide a safer, more accessible, and environmentally sustainable park for locals to enjoy for decades.
