Hospital Technician in New Jersey Faces Charges for Alleged Sexual Assault of Patient

A New Jersey hospital tech was arrested for sexually abusing a patient. After investigating, local police and county prosecutors caught the suspect ECG technician on Tuesday. According to prosecutors, it happened that morning in the hospital.
Dumont resident Asher Younis, 41, was arrested for first-, second-, and third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact. Police said the victim could not fight back throughout the incident. The police complaint states Younis inappropriately grabbed the victim’s breasts and genitalia and had intercourse with her online while she was defenseless. Police said the claims are based on the victim’s story and probe findings.
Younis was arrested and is in Bergen County Jail awaiting Hackensack Superior Court. County Special Victims Unit is investigating. The police recommend calling the tip line if you know more.
The hospital reported Younis was sacked and detained immediately. A spokesman for the charity stated they were cooperating with detectives and couldn’t say anything else because it was illegal. Patient safety and healing space security were the hospital’s key priorities.
Many concern about medical professionals’ safety and responsibilities after a worker who aided patients was arrested. Health care facilities should screen and monitor staff who have direct, unsupervised access to fragile patients. This episode highlights its importance.
Community members and patient-advocacy NGOs will watch the court process. This case may prompt us to reconsider hospital safety, staff training, and reporting malpractice.
