Golden Globes 2026: The Biggest Snubs That Left Fans Talking

For the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, certain movies and TV shows garnered multiple nominations, but several fan favorites and critical hits were omitted. On January 11, 2026, CBS will honor the year’s best in cinema and television, but this year’s candidates have divided the entertainment world.
“One Battle After Another” got nine nominations, “Sentimental Value” eight, and “Sinners” seven. The TV series “The White Lotus” received six nominations, “Adolescence” five, “Only Murders in the Building” four, and “Severance” The Hollywood Foreign Press Association was criticized for omitting classic shows.
TV conversation focused on Disney+’s “Andor” exclusion. Despite 14 nominations, the Star Wars spinoff wasn’t nominated for Best Television Series – Drama. Diego Luna received one. Fans and media were confused by the series’ lack of praise for its intriguing plot and critical acclaim.
No Billy Bob Thornton either. He didn’t win a Best Actor nomination for “Landman,” which shattered Paramount+’s most-watched original series launch. Thornton, Sterling K. Brown, and Mark Ruffalo were eliminated from this year’s competitive category for the same role.
Gwyneth Paltrow was not nominated for Best Actress in “Marty Supreme” despite good reviews. Jennifer Lopez was missed despite critics hailing her “Kiss of the Spider Woman” performance her best.
Snobs impacted music adaptations. “Wicked: For Good,” directed by Jon M. Chu, garnered five acting and box office nods but no Best Director or Musical/Comedy.
Similar oversights plagued TV supporting roles. Best Supporting Actress nominations were not given to Katherine LaNasa of “The Pitt” and Meghann Fahy of “Sirens”. In “Christy,” Sydney Sweeney gained weight to play boxer Christy Salters. The program was unnominated.
Even HBO’s 96% Rotten Tomatoes-rated “Task” was underrepresented. The Globe’s judging process was questioned after Mark Ruffalo garnered one actor nomination and the show received no Best Drama Series nomination.
The 83rd Golden Globes will air live on CBS and Paramount+ at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, January 11, 2026. Post-nomination debates will focus on forgotten acts and productions despite the ceremony’s glitter and shocks.
These rejections reflect awards culture disputes about representation, genre, and appraisal. Fans and professionals are celebrating and arguing this awards season.
