Fairview Resident Arrested After Investigation Into Alleged Child Assault Spanning Several Years

Dangerous-Criminals-arrested

The 59-year-old from Fairview, Bergen County, New Jersey, was arrested and accused with sexually assaulting a youngster several times over several years. After the suspect’s arrest on Wednesday, prosecutors revealed the charges.

Officials said the accused is Fairview resident Elder G. Mimbela-Portilla. Investigations suggest the alleged assaults occurred from Nov. 1, 2017, until Nov. 21, 2021. The toddler was allegedly assaulted multiple times throughout that time.

The alleged incidents occurred in Bergen County’s Fairview borough. Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said investigators reviewed the accusations before charging the man.

Police apprehended Mimbela-Portilla in Paramus, another Bergen County town. After the arrest, authorities brought multiple serious charges related to the minor’s alleged actions.

The man faces first-degree aggravated sexual assault and second-degree sexual assault by contact, authorities said. He also faces second-degree harming the welfare of a child, a typical charge in cases of child abuse or exploitation.

The defendant was arrested and detained at Bergen County Jail. Officials said he is being kept there for his initial court appearance to face charges.

Authorities did not immediately reveal information about the accused’s legal representation. When the criminal justice process continues, court proceedings will determine the next steps.

Prosecutors withheld victim details to preserve the child’s identify and privacy. Minors’ cases are generally kept private to protect victims.

Law enforcement and prosecutors focus on child abuse investigations. Authorities stress that such investigations require rigorous evidence analysis, interviews, and investigative unit collaboration before charges are brought.

Until proven guilty in court, the defendant is assumed innocent of these charges. As the lawsuit moves through Bergen County’s courts, more details should emerge.
