Crossing Guard Hospitalized After Being Struck by SUV in Paramus, N.J.

An SUV hit a Paramus, New Jersey, school crossing guard on Monday morning, hospitalizing him. The guard helped a pedestrian at Howland and Forest Avenue about 7:30 a.m. Police said the crossing guard’s stop sign and outfit easily identified them when hit.

79-year-old Subaru Forester driver turned left onto Forest Avenue, police said. Police said the vehicle didn’t see the crossing guard when the light changed, causing the accident. Police called the motorist for irresponsible driving and not listening to the crossing guard.
