Court Rules: NJ Trooper Fired For Racist Tattoos and Crimes Will NOT Get Job Back

A former New Jersey state trooper who was fired for having racist tattoos and breaking into a home has lost his final appeal to get his job back. A court has ruled that the police agency was right to fire him.

The trooper, Jason Dare, had been with the state police for nearly 20 years before his career ended in a series of scandals.

Why Was He Fired?

Jason Dare was fired in 2023 for many reasons, all of which broke a “last chance” agreement he had with the police department.

The main reasons for his firing were:
He escaped from a medical facility where he was getting help.
He broke into a home and was found hiding there without permission.
He had a history of bad behavior off the job, including drunk driving.

What About the Racist Tattoos?

The man’s racist tattoos made many people notice the story. When police said he was missing, people online saw a big tattoo on his neck that said ‘Blood Honor.’

This was a slogan used by Hitler’s youth group, and even today some racist gangs still use it.

Other photos from his Facebook page showed more tattoos linked to white supremacist hate groups.

The tattoos were part of the internal investigation that led to his firing.

What Was His “Last Chance” Agreement?

Because of his past mistakes, Dare had signed a “Last Chance Agreement.” This was a final warning from his bosses. It meant that if he got into any more trouble, he would be fired immediately.

The court ruled that by escaping from the medical facility and breaking into a home, he broke this agreement. The judges said the police were right to fire him.

What’s Next for Him?

Dare’s lawyer says he will appeal the court’s decision again. However, for now, the ruling stands. Jason Dare will not be returning to his job as a New Jersey state trooper.
