Coastal Storm Brings Heavy Rain and Gusty Winds to New Jersey

A storm near New Jersey’s coast brings rain and severe gusts. The Carolinas-based storm is moving north, hitting the Mid-Atlantic. On Tuesday, September 16, the NWS predicted 50-mph winds in southern New Jersey. Some Atlantic and Cape May counties were covered.
The storm slammed southern New Jersey and the Jersey Shore, where an inch or more of rain is forecast. Storms may hit the coast. Rain will decrease by a quarter-inch over the state.
Along with rain and wind, the storm is roughening the water and creating coastline rip currents. Rip currents are dangerous at the beach, according to the National Weather Service.
Storms will last into Wednesday, but Thursday should be better. Storms out to sea may bring morning rain to the shore. Clear skies are forecast all afternoon.
In coastal locations with floods and severe waves, people should watch weather news and take safety precautions.
