California Woman Charged After Alleged Years-Long Stalking Case Turns Violent Against Rock Guitarist

A 54-year-old woman is now facing multiple felony charges after authorities say a long-running stalking case involving Lindsey Buckingham escalated into a physical attack in California.

According to court documents, Michelle Dick has been charged with seven criminal counts. These include two counts of stalking, two counts of making criminal threats with intent to terrorize, assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism, and battery. The case has raised serious concerns about personal safety and long-term harassment targeting public figures.

The charges stem from an incident that reportedly took place on March 25 in Santa Monica. Prosecutors allege that Dick followed Buckingham to an appointment, confronted him, and threw an unknown substance on him before fleeing the scene. Authorities later issued an arrest warrant, and a Los Angeles County judge set bail at $300,000. Reports indicate that she has since been taken into custody.

Investigators say the alleged harassment did not begin recently. The case dates back to 2021, with claims that Dick repeatedly targeted the former Fleetwood Mac guitarist through disturbing behavior over several years. These actions allegedly included making a false emergency call to his home, leaving aggressive voicemails, damaging property, and issuing threats against Buckingham and his family.

Buckingham has consistently denied any personal connection to Dick. In legal filings, he stated that he does not know her and rejected her claim that he is her biological father. Despite this, Dick has publicly maintained that belief, adding another layer of complexity to the case.

The musician previously sought legal protection, and a restraining order was granted in 2024. That order remains active and is set to continue until 2029. However, recent developments suggest that the situation escalated despite those legal measures.

In past statements submitted to the court, Buckingham described the emotional toll the situation has taken on his family. He said the ongoing harassment created fear for their safety, particularly because the accused allegedly had knowledge of their home address. He also noted that the March incident deeply frightened his wife, further highlighting the seriousness of the situation.

This case underscores the growing concern around stalking and harassment cases, especially when they persist over years and involve repeated violations of personal boundaries. Legal experts often point out that such cases can escalate quickly if not addressed early and effectively.

Authorities are continuing to handle the case through the legal system, and further proceedings are expected as prosecutors move forward with the charges. The outcome will likely depend on the evidence presented in court and the enforcement of existing protective orders.

For now, the case remains a developing legal matter, drawing attention to both public safety concerns and the challenges victims face when dealing with long-term harassment.
