Beloved Jersey Shore Pub Has a New Owner Who Promises To Preserve Its Classic Charm

Although a Jersey Shore local pub is changing, longtime customers can expect the same intimate atmosphere. Point Pleasant Beach’s Ark has a new owner who promises to protect its heritage and uniqueness.

Point Pleasant Beach residents have visited the Ark for comfort food, courteous service, and a “old English pub” atmosphere since 1976. Award-winning burgers and seafood made using fresh, local ingredients made the restaurant famous. Many residents consider it a local history museum, not just a pub.

After 15 years, Tony and Dan Bartone sold The Ark to Mort Nase, a Jersey Shore restaurateur. Lifelong Point Pleasant resident Nase has over 40 years of industry experience and worked in local firms. Former general manager of Point Pleasant landmark Frankie’s, he bought Bricktown’s Windward Tavern in 2012.

In his latest purchase, Nase pledged to honor The Ark’s history. He told the community the pub’s historic decor, warm atmosphere, and English-inspired décor will remain. As many long-standing Jersey Shore companies change hands or close, this certainty comforts many.

Monday through Saturday, the Ark is open 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Only Tuesdays are different. For almost 50 years, long hours, basic food, and a pleasant atmosphere have kept consumers coming back.

Residents who visited The Ark as children think the new owners will revitalize the historic pub as well as maintain its charm. While honoring the historic bar, the transaction revitalizes Point Pleasant Beach.
