Over 150,000 Magnetic Chess Sets Recalled for Safety Risks — Parents Urged to Act Immediately

A huge safety recall has prompted parents and caregivers to search their homes for a popular magnetic chess set. Following CPSC guidance, Stoney Games recalled over 151,600 Kluster Fun Tabletop Magnet Chess Games due to major safety concerns.
The recall follows the discovery that chess sets have small, high-powered magnets that might loosen. These magnets can attract each other or other metal items in the digestive system if consumed by young children. Intestinal perforations, obstructions, twisting, blood poisoning, and death can follow. Thankfully, no injuries have been recorded.
These magnetic chess games were offered at independent game stores around the US and online at Klustermagnets.com, Amazon, and Etsy from October 2018 to September 2025. Prices were $15–$20. From Bexley, Ohio, Stoney Games LLC imported the products.
Parents should stop their children from playing these games and remove them from their reach. Stoney Games can be reached by phone or email for instructions on how to safely dispose of the recalled magnets and get child-safe replacements.
High-powered magnets in toys and household objects pose continuous concerns, as this recall shows. To prevent accidents and injury, the CPSC monitors and recalls such items. Parents and caregivers should inspect all magnetic toys and household items for safety, especially for younger children who may swallow small parts.
Child safety is a priority, and following recall instructions can prevent serious injury. Stoney Games works with federal safety authorities to provide families with safe options.
