A former New Jersey teacher accused of insulting a disabled student faces legal action. The third-grader’s mother criticized a November 2022 Lindbergh Elementary School program. The lawsuit claims the former instructor videotaped the girl on her phone and made her shout “4QK,” a disparaging slur.

Lawsuit defendants include former teacher, Palisades Park School District, principal, and another teacher. It alleges the tape was revealed to the school community on social media and during a district meeting in late September 2023. The complaint alleges the video went viral for over a year without the family’s knowledge.

The student moved to Teaneck, New Jersey, from the district after court filings safeguarded his name. She reports weekly counseling, panic attacks, anxiety, nightmares, and trust issues. It says the encounter hampered her language and learning disability management.

Former teacher who resigned in 2024 and her attorney have not commented on the charges. A brief statement from the district superintendent said it did not discuss pending litigation.

This case presents digital recording, student privacy, instructor conduct, and special education concerns. It stresses that schools and teachers must respect and care for impaired students. The Bergen County case may affect how schools manage social media, internal recordings, and vulnerable students.
