Authorities: NJ Transit Bus Injures 5 East Orange Pedestrian

A pedestrian was hit in East Orange, injuring five people on a late-night New Jersey Transit bus, officials said. Essex County, infamous for late-night bus and pedestrian activity, saw the accident Wednesday after midnight.

South Clinton Street and Norwood Place were the scene about 12:10 a.m., according to police. Last night’s NJ Transit bus hit a woman crossing. Bus 94 from Bloomfield to Irvington Center crashed.

Emergency personnel came quickly after the incident. A local hospital treated the pedestrian and four bus passengers. The incident harmed all five victims, although their situations are unknown.

Transit officials confirmed the collision and emphasized pedestrian and rider safety. They underlined that the crash investigation by the East Orange Police Department will reveal more details. Police have not disclosed the cause.
